I have credit debt to several banks but managed to keep my credit in good conditions with my own bank. I just got some money from the Government and deposited it into my bank account, can the collection agencies from other banks offset the money from my bank account? (Ontario Canada)

I know in the US they can. Not sure about in Canada

   In the us,they would need a judgement against you first…I imagine its similar in canada

   They can try if you are not paying on time.

   They can’t just take your money from your bank account without a legal judgement. However, all the banks talk to each other and you may find it difficult to get a loan even from the bank you are on good terms with. So you better clean up your act.
